中國研制成功世界首個(gè)深紫外固態(tài)激光器

三泰虎博客9月15日譯文，中國社科院推出深紫外固態(tài)激光裝備，從而使中國成為世界上首個(gè)擁有此項(xiàng)技術(shù)的國家。社科院院長白春禮稱，這一裝備的成功測(cè)試表明社科院專注于重大創(chuàng)新并取得了突破性進(jìn)展。氟硼酸鉀(KBBF)的使用曾經(jīng)令這一項(xiàng)目止步不前，中國社科院院士陳闖天和中國工程院院士徐祖元一道前往香港科技大學(xué)尋求幫助。徐祖元說他們被允許使用他們的設(shè)備，當(dāng)時(shí)中國大陸研究院并沒有此類實(shí)驗(yàn)室。經(jīng)過艱苦努力后，他們最終發(fā)明了KBBF棱鏡耦合裝備。

BEIJING: The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has launched a deep ultraviolet (DUV) solid-state laser device, making the country first-ever in the world to possess such technology.
CAS President Bai Chunli said that the successful testing of the device suggests the academy's dedication to major innovation and breakthrough in seeking development.
中國社科院研制出深紫外固態(tài)激光裝備，從而使中國成為世界上首個(gè)擁有此項(xiàng)技術(shù)的國家。
社科院院長白春禮稱，這一裝備的成功測(cè)試表明社科院專注于重大創(chuàng)新并取得了突破性進(jìn)展。
The use of potassium beryllium fluoroborate (KBBF) once stalled the project and Chen Chuangtian, a CAS member along with Xu Zuyuan, a member of the Chinese academy of engineering turned to the Hong Kong University of science and technology for help.
Xu said that they were allowed to use their labs because Chinese mainland research institutes did not have similar ones at that time, adding that they eventually, after many strenuous efforts, invented a KBBF prism coupling device.
氟硼酸鉀(KBBF)的使用曾經(jīng)令這一項(xiàng)目止步不前，中國社科院院士陳闖天和中國工程院院士徐祖元一道前往香港科技大學(xué)尋求幫助。
徐祖元說他們被允許使用他們的實(shí)驗(yàn)室，當(dāng)時(shí)中國大陸研究院并沒有此類實(shí)驗(yàn)室。經(jīng)過艱苦努力后，他們最終發(fā)明了KBBF棱鏡耦合器件。

This is an important milestone. Such lasers can be tapped for military use. 1) Research is on to use their tremendous energy to induce nuclear fusion (like in Hydrogen bomb). Fusion would then be possible at near room temperature which can make the technology portable and very dangerous. 2) It can be used to find, track and destroy missiles in flight. Protoypes of such lasers from other materials are already in use in U.S. China acquiring this technology should be a source of worry for India.
